Thank you, CY, for the opportunity to come and speak at the 'Happy' evangelistic event! It's always a great honour to share God's Word, especially to those who don't yet believe. It was only after the event that I realised how much thought and effort had been put into preparing the night, and I was truly humbled that the responsibility of preaching the message was entrusted to me. Nobody involved had heard me speak before so I understand that it must have been a difficult and nerve-wracking decision to make.
Going into the night, I wasn't sure what to expect, and I must admit that I felt a bit nervous. Maybe it was because I hadn't met most of the CY students before, or because I didn't know what the hall at Concord would look like (I don't know why that matters, but it does!). Actually, now that I think about it, it's probably because I had to prepare not only a sermon, but also two songs to lip-sync! Yes, I know it's surprising, but my performance wasn't a result of natural talent, but hard work. I was amazed at how well the whole night was put together. From the choice of songs to the skit, testimony and 'what makes you happy?' board, everything pointed so clearly to the theme of happiness and had the students questioning their values and the things they were chasing after, and it made it that much easier for me to get my message across. It was incredibly encouraging to hear about the responses from the event, from one student saying that they wanted to be a Christian to many others saying that they were encouraged in their faith. Let's keep praying that those who heard the message would continue to be challenged and reminded to seek after Christ as their source of happiness. |
